About Us

Welcome to the Stitchin’ Post and the wonderful world of cross-stitch and knitting. The pictures on this page show our little shop, and what an exciting place it can be.

Pat & Mike Embree opened the Stitchin’ Post in Harding Mall in 1975. After thirty years in business, they moved to their current location in the Berry Hill district of south Nashville. Their business has changed with the times, and over time has expanded to include knitting and framing. Pat has also learned new techniques and skills in the many associations she belongs to, including the International Needleart Retailers Guild, The National Needlework Association, the Embroiderer’s Guild of America, and the American Needlepoint Guild.

The Stitchin’ Post carries a wide variety of cross-stitch, pre-worked needlepoint and yarns. We also provide a complete needlecraft experience, from helping you start a project to providing a framing and finishing department to help you display your beautiful piece.

Our extensive inventory of books and graphs include a wide variety of designers and some we have done ourselves. Can’t find one in our shopping cart? Call or email us and if we do not have it in stock we will try to special order it for you.

We can also assist you in the materials needed for your projects, including a variety of fibers and fabrics. Check the shopping cart and look under Fibers to see what’s readily available. If you use something that is not listed, please call or email us, because we may have added that as well!

With regard to fabric, we have a wide variety of count sizes, colors, and types. Our inventory includes Aida, Klostern, Tula, Heatherfield, Linen, Lugana, Davos, Salem and Jobelan. You can call or email with your needs.

Over the years we have collected quite an assortment of leaflets, books and charts by way of book swaps, buy-outs, donations, etc. Some are out of print, some are still available. Some are a little shopworn, some are in pristine condition. All of these we call vintage books and can be found in the Vintage Books section on the main page of our shopping cart. Be sure to shop this section frequently as the variety is ever changing– for when it’s sold it’s gone forever. So browse through the list; you never know what you might find!

We at the Stitchin’ Post strive to make your shopping experience as easy as possible whether you place your order on line using our secure shopping cart, mail it, fax it, call or come in. Our web site lists only items we carry in stock to ensure a quick turn around when you place an order. An item not included on the web site does not mean we can’t get it, just that it may take a little longer. So if you do not see an item on the web site, call or email us, and we will try our level best to get it.

How do you find us? It’s easy. Take the Armory Drive exit #79 off I-65, then right at the Powell Avenue exit and turn right on to Powell. When Powell crosses Thompson Lane it becomes Bransford Avenue. On Bransford turn right at the first signal light on to East Iris Drive, right on to Columbine Place and we’re the 6th house on the right. If you go right, you can’t go wrong.

We look forward to seeing you.

Pat and Mike
